Update for students

The Music School re-opens on Monday 6th July 2020 with new safety measures in place to protect students and staff. To adapt to this new way of life and continue providing music lessons, the little shop service and guitar repairs, we have been busy planning and re-organising for when it is safe to return. The Music Spot Little Shop and Guy's Guitar Repair will re-open on Wednesday 1st July 2020. Both of these services will have protective screens in place and card payment is preferred. To prevent the spread of any virus, we are doing everything we can to make sure The Music Spot is as safe as possible to visit and enjoy.
So, what has changed?

Music Lessons

Most of our tutors are returning to one-to-one teaching in the school. However, some will continue to teach one-to-one via video link instead for the time being. If a student feels unwell they should not attend their lesson and will be asked to return home if they do attend. Any concerns regarding Covid-19 should be raised with their tutor or a member of staff.

Hygiene

Anyone entering the building must use hand sanitiser where available on the way IN and on the way OUT. The toilet upstairs can still be used, but all who use it must wash their hands thoroughly afterwards. Pens cannot be shared, so please bring your own pen if you need to write something down or complete a new student form. Tutors will have their own hygiene stations and have their own protective protocols and procedures active at all times, which may involve teaching behind a Perspex screen and/ or wearing a facemask.

Music School changes

  • The only people allowed upstairs in the music school are tutors/staff and students.
  • The play area is temporarily closed.
  •  No food or drink to be consumed upstairs.
  •  The upstairs waiting area is strictly limited to those who have to wait for their child, or students waiting for a lesson.
  • Social distancing must be respected.
  • No groups of friends.
  • Magazines and loose leaflets have been removed.
  • If you see any concerning behaviour relating to the new protective measures please report this to a member of staff.

The snacks trolley!

The snacks trolley will unfortunately no longer be available upstairs, as no food or drink can be consumed in the music school area. A selection of bottled drinks and chocolate will be available to buy from the little shop downstairs if you need your fix on the way out!
